Amazfit Active 2 Premium: what the feedback sample supports

A feedback-based look at the Amazfit Active 2 Premium smartwatch: long battery life and a traditional watch look are the strengths, with the closed app ecosystem and settings-dependent battery the points the sample splits on.

Our assessment

The sample is strongly positive on the two things this watch is sold on: battery life that runs to a week or more, and a round, classic look that buyers prefer to square-faced trackers. The split is the software, where the same closed app ecosystem is a virtue to one buyer and a limitation to another, plus a battery life that depends heavily on which features you leave on.

In brief

This is the Amazfit Active 2 Premium, a round smartwatch with a sapphire-glass screen, GPS, an AMOLED display and heart and sleep monitoring, supplied with a leather strap and a sport strap. It is positioned as a lower-cost alternative to the better-known smartwatch brands. The marketplace average is 4.4 out of 5 across roughly 1,700 ratings, with 74 percent at five stars, 11 percent at four, and a one-star tail of about 6 percent.

Thirteen comments were captured. That is a usable sample, though modest next to the rating count.

What the sample agrees on

Battery life is the theme buyers return to most, and it is the one the listing leads with. Buyers describe going a week or more between charges, with several reporting around ten days and one still holding a good charge after five days of light use. They also describe charging quickly from a magnetic puck.

The second consistent theme is that it looks like a watch rather than a gadget. Buyers who came from square-faced trackers describe the round case and the range of watch faces as the reason they are happy to wear it all day, and several say it reads as more expensive than it is. On the practical side, buyers report the screen staying legible in daylight, notifications arriving promptly, calls working from the wrist, and the Zepp companion app being straightforward to set up. Accuracy comes up repeatedly, with buyers saying step, distance and heart-rate readings match or beat the watches they replaced.

The trade-off: the app ecosystem, and how you use it

The clearest split is the software. One four-star reviewer says the watch has no access to the Play Store and that the only apps available are inside Zepp, which covers the basics and not much more; a five-star reviewer treats the same closed setup as a virtue, saying it keeps them off their phone while still taking calls and messages. That is the same fact read two ways, and which side you land on depends on whether you want a small phone on your wrist or a watch that stays a watch.

Battery life is more conditional than the headline suggests. Buyers who use it mainly for time, steps and occasional readings report well over a week; one buyer says turning on the always-on display cuts that to about two days, and the rating data treats battery life as a major theme with a spread rather than a fixed number. One five-star buyer also notes the screen lighting up by itself in a dark room, a minor annoyance they still rated the watch highly despite.

We have not tested this smartwatch.

Bottom line

Worth considering if you want a good-looking round smartwatch with long battery life and accurate basics, and you are content to live inside the Zepp app rather than an open app store. The reservation is exactly that ecosystem, plus a battery life that depends heavily on your settings. The score shown for this product comes from the marketplace-wide rating and its rating count, not from these 13 comments. No individual customer review is reproduced here.
