Our assessment

The sample is strongly positive: the shears arrive sharp, cut packaging, herbs and meat without complaint, and the magnetic sheath is the feature buyers like most because it keeps them off the drawer and within reach. The one issue worth naming is rust, which appears in a small number of accounts, including one that reports the blades rusting within a month; the wider rating data puts the one-star tail at about 1 percent, so it reads as a minority rather than a rule.

Evidence note: we sampled 13 customer comments for this exact product on October 12, 2026. We do not reproduce them here. This sample is not representative of every buyer; the site score instead uses the marketplace-wide average and rating count.

In brief

This is a two-pack of Mr. Pen all-purpose kitchen shears: 8-inch stainless steel scissors with micro-serrated blades, soft grips and protective sheaths, sold as dishwasher safe. The marketplace average is 4.7 out of 5 across roughly 3,400 ratings, with 82 percent at five stars, 11 percent at four, and a one-star tail of about 1 percent, the thinnest in this batch.

Thirteen comments were captured, which is a workable sample for a simple tool.

What the sample agrees on

Sharpness and sturdiness carry the sample. Buyers describe the shears cutting packaging, herbs, vegetables and meat straight out of the box, and reaching for them instead of a knife for prep. The blades are described as strong rather than flimsy, the grip as comfortable and non-slip even with wet hands, and the dishwasher-safe claim as genuinely useful for a tool that ends up cutting food packaging.

The magnet is the feature buyers single out most. The sheath attaches to the fridge, so the shears stay in reach and do not vanish into a drawer, and one buyer describes it as the reason they use them far more than they expected. Several note they keep the shears on the fridge to dry, which turns out to matter for the one issue below.

The trade-off: rust, and the strength of the magnet

Rust is the point the sample divides on, and it is worth stating plainly. One buyer reports the blades fully rusted within a month and rates the shears poorly for it. That is a single account, and one comment cannot establish that the shears rust as a rule. A four-star reviewer reports a lighter version of the same thing, noting slight rust on the blades along with the magnet loosening over time. Against them, a buyer who hand-washes and dries the shears on the magnet reports no rust at all, which suggests care and drying make a difference. The rating data itself puts the one-star tail at about 1 percent, so widespread rust is not what the wider numbers show.

The magnet is the second split. The marketplace summary notes that some buyers find the magnetic attachment weak. In this sample it is mostly praised, including by the buyer who says it is strong enough to hold the shears steady on the fridge, so the disagreement is real but not dominant.

We have not tested this pair of kitchen shears.

Bottom line

Worth considering if you want a sharp, sturdy pair of shears you will actually keep within reach, and you are willing to dry them rather than leave them wet. The reservation is rust: it shows up in a minority of accounts, so hand-drying after washing is the sensible habit. The score shown for this product comes from the marketplace-wide rating and its rating count, not from these 13 comments. No individual customer review is reproduced here.
