A feedback-based look at the Wyze Wired Doorbell Camera v2: a sharp 2K picture, colour night vision and subscription-free local storage are the consistent strengths, while connectivity and subscription gating split the sample.

Our assessment

Buyers agree on the picture and on the value of recording locally to a microSD card instead of paying for cloud storage, and several install it on existing wiring and an old chime without trouble. The reservations are why this one sits at the lower end of the three doorbells here: connectivity and reliability complaints are frequent, and more than one buyer finds that the features they wanted sit behind a paid plan.

Evidence note: we sampled 13 customer comments for this exact product on October 12, 2026. We do not reproduce them here. This sample is not representative of every buyer; the site score instead uses the marketplace-wide average and rating count.

In brief

This is the Wyze Wired Doorbell Camera v2, a 2K doorbell that requires existing doorbell wiring, with colour night vision, two-way audio and package monitoring, and the option to record continuously to a microSD card rather than the cloud. The marketplace average is 4.0 out of 5 across roughly 3,400 ratings. The distribution is unusual: about 62 percent at five stars and 11 percent at four, but a one-star tail of roughly 15 percent, the thickest of the three doorbells covered here.

Thirteen comment bodies were captured, which is enough to read closely but not enough to settle the disagreement inside them. The marketplace rating is the more reliable summary.

Where the sample splits: reliability and subscriptions

The positive accounts share the same handful of points. Buyers describe wiring it to existing doorbell wires and, in more than one case, keeping an old mechanical chime working once the chime type is set in the app. The 2K picture is called sharp, the colour night vision is singled out as a genuine strength, and the field of view is wide enough to see packages left close to the door. Recording to a microSD card without a subscription is named repeatedly as the reason for choosing this over a rival.

The reliability theme is where the sample turns. One long-time buyer who owns several Wyze cameras describes units dropping offline and needing physical access to reset, which defeats the point of a camera mounted out of reach. A buyer reports a unit that needed repeated resets and then stopped working on the fifth day. Another reports the doorbell intermittently failing to read the microSD card. The marketplace summary names connectivity as a significant issue, so this is not one voice.

Subscription gating is the second fault line. A two-star and a three-star buyer both say that, even with a microSD card installed, much of what they wanted from the app sits behind a paid plan, and a buyer in one overseas market adds that the voice-assistant integration they wanted does not work there. A separate one-star note flags a voltage requirement that makes it unsuitable outside its intended market, which is a region and wiring point rather than a defect.

We have not tested this doorbell.

Bottom line

Worth considering if you already have doorbell wiring, want local recording without a subscription, and are comfortable with the app as it stands rather than with what a paid tier would add. Go in expecting the reliability tail to be real rather than rare: it is the largest of the doorbells here, so buy where returns are easy. The score shown for this product comes from the marketplace-wide rating and its rating count, not from these 13 comments. No individual customer review is reproduced here.
